Built at the height of the rubber boom at the turn of the 19th century, the Opera House took fifteen years to construct. It epitomizes the splendor and elegance of a time when the city was one of the richest in the world.
Following the visit, you'll proceed through the vibrant and energetic downtown area, where the pulse of the people is best appreciated. Visit the Indian Museum, established by the Salesian order. Uncover the significant history and roots of the Amazonian culture while examining the wide array of artifacts, weapons, and costumes of the region's principal tribes.
Next, journey by coach through the city's most affluent residential areas. Along these streets, which are lined with extravagant, turn of the century mansions to visit the "Military Zoo", where Amazon wildlife can be seen.
