Guama River Exploration (3.5 hours)

Experience what life is like along the Guama River and become acquainted with some of northern Brazil’s flora and fauna. The Guama River is a branch of the Amazon with myriad channels lined by lush tropical forest.

Departing the port, a drive across town will take you to the Beira Rio Hotel landing pier.
Here, a typical river boat awaits you for a leisurely trip along the river and through a number of smaller waterways and natural creeks. The cruise will allow you to have a closer look at equatorial vegetation and bird life.

A stop at Santa Maria Island provides the opportunity to visit with native Caboclo residents, known as ribeirinhos. Their homes stand on stilts above the river. During a short guided walk, you will venture into the forest to see some of the local flora and fauna, such as Brazil nut and rubber trees, and perhaps a parakeet or macaw.

Resuming your cruise, you will head next toward Combu Island.
As your boat circles the island, you will see vast plantations and cabbage palm trees.

Combu Island is also known for the small blackberries used in ice cream and for making wine.
From here you will start cruising back to the embarkation point, where your transfer bus awaits for the drive to the port.
